Staff Profile
Graeme Sheldon: AMML General Manager
Graeme has had over 35 years experience in minerals processing. He commenced with minerals testing in a laboratory, then plant experience with a gold heap leach and CIP operation in Western Australia. He worked for six years with Mount Isa Mines from 1980, in the crushing, grinding, flotation plants, pilot plants and laboratory, with copper, lead, zinc and silver metallurgy. From 1986 he was the metallurgical manager of Enviromet (a metallurgical laboratory previously in Sydney); and was founder and owner of Metcon Laboratories, which was sold to AMMTEC.
The most recent ten years has included consulting to several companies: Tall Bennett (mining chemicals); Ausmelt (for development of their hydroxamate oxide mineral collector, AM2); and several other mine site auditing and site metallurgical projects. He has built AMML as a fully operational and independent commercial testing laboratory.
Timothy Koo: Senior Metallurgist (B Eng. Chemical, M. Eng)
Timothy obtained his degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He worked in industry as a process engineer before going back to UNSW and completing his Master of Chemical Engineering degree majoring in water treatment. Following his degree, he joined Metcon Laboratories in 2005. Based in Sydney, he also gained plant experience working in mines in Queensland. He joined AMML in 2007.
Mark Surace: Senior Metallurgist (BSc. Hon Chemistry, BApp.Sc Extractive Metallurgy)
Mark obtained his degree in BSc Honours Chemistry degree with a minor in Geology from UWA in 1997 and continued his studies completing his second degree at Murdoch University with a post-graduate BApp.Sc in Extractive Metallurgy in 1999. Following his studies, he has worked in a number of operations at Striker Resources, Anaconda Nickel, Outokumpu Technology and most recently, since 2005 at Metcon Laboratories. Mark has gained experiences in laboratory and pilot scale test work for solid-liquid separation and nickel, cobalt and scandium acid leaching with product recovery.
David Rushworth: Laboratory Supervisor
Over the last ten years Dave has been working as a metallurgical technician with Graeme Sheldon, working at mine sites throughout Australia. Dave has previous experience as a business manager with a large corporation. He has excellent people management and system management skills, and relishes his role at AMML as a senior technician while ensuring the laboratory is well maintained, orderly and 100% functional.
